Calgary has earned another economic title — highest family income in Canada.
A new report from Statistics Canada shows the median total family income (before tax) for Calgary was $98,300. The report is based on data from personal income tax returns for 2012.
Next up was Edmonton at $96,030. Ottawa–Gatineau fell from first to third at $94,230.
Calgary families earned 3.7 per cent more in 2012 compared to the year before. At the national level, median total family income increased by 1.7 per cent during the same period.
A report earlier this week from Canadian Business magazine found Calgary has six of the country's 25 richest neighbourhoods.
